A gentle start makes a big difference

Starting at Kurrajong Kids

Starting early learning is a big step for children and families. That's why we take the time to make the transition into Kurrajong Kids feel welcoming, familiar and individual to your child. Before your child begins, orientation provides opportunities to explore their room, meet educators and gradually become familiar with their new environment. We want to know the little things that make your child them; their interests, routines, comfort needs, family and cultural connections, favourite things and the things they may find difficult. Some children settle quickly. Others need more time. There is no single right way to begin. Our educators work in partnership with families to build trusting relationships and develop settling strategies that respond to each child. Once care begins, we'll continue checking in and working together as your child develops their own sense of security, connection and belonging at Kurrajong Kids.

Because you know your child best

Partnerships with Families

Families are children's first and most influential teachers, and we value the knowledge, experiences and perspectives you bring. We want communication at Kurrajong Kids to be genuinely two-way. Families are encouraged to share their child's interests, experiences, culture, achievements, changing routines, family events and goals for their learning and development. Likewise, our educators will share children's experiences, learning and moments from their day, helping create a meaningful connection between home and Kurrajong Kids. Whether it's a conversation with an educator, communication through OWNA, an email or simply stopping for a chat, we want families to feel comfortable asking questions, contributing ideas and being part of their child's experience with us.

Strong relationships with families help us know children better - and knowing children is where meaningful learning begins.
